Historic Rogers & Brown House
Bed and Breakfast

The large colonial home was originally situated just above the Ipswich South Green. Built by Dr Rogers in 1750, Madame Rogers ran a renowned school for young women. After Dr Rogers passed away, Madame Rogers agreed to sell the house to Dr.Asa Brown so it could be relocated to make way for the building of the Old South Church. Dr. Brown moved the large colonial "Rogers" house and joined it to the first period salt box home previously owned by Nathaniel Rust, an early glover. Dr. Brown wanted the "Old Manse" to reflect his position in the colony. His "improvements" included the addition of several fireplaces, three stairways and a carriage barn.
