Take a painting class, enjoy a visit to our library, cross country ski at Appleton Farm or Bradley Palmer State Park, or visit the Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary and feed the chickadees right out of your hand.
During the summer, Ipswich abounds with fairs, festivals and wonderful water-related activities. The sand-castle contest at Crane Beach attracts sculptors of all ages and the 2.5 mile beach is perfect for a picnic, a swim, a walk or a snooze.
For spring and summer outdoor fun, kayaking around the islands, waterways and salt marshes, bike ride to the beach and Jeffries Neck, hike through the woods at Bradley Palmer State Park, the trails at Appleton Farms or canoe the Ipswich River with Foote Brothers Canoe. Try fly fishing at Pavilion Beach or golf at any one of our 3 golf courses. Visit Marini Farm for wonderful fresh produce and baked goods.
Any time of year you can enjoy the Ipswich Museum, Whipple House and Crane Estate Museums. Walk around town to see "America's First Period Town"; 62 first period homes are still occupied. Museum entry tickets and free walking tour maps may be obtained at the Hall Haskell House Tourist Center on Rte 1A/133, at 30 South Main Street. You will pass small shops and galleries along the way.
